GLORY GLORY MANCHESTER UNITED PART 3

David Moyes replaced Sir Alex after penning a six year deal. He was sacked after just one season of poor performance which saw Man Utd fail to qualify for the Champions League as well as Europa League first time since 1950s. Then Louis Van Gaal took over with Ryan Giggs as his assistant. Even though the Red Devils qualified for the Champions League that season the very next season they crashed out of the group stage and finished 5th in the league even after expensive signings of Radamael Falcao and Angel Di Maria. Van Gaal was sacked despite a 12th FA Cup title. Little wasn`t accepted at a great club like Manchester United. These 3 seasons were all winter, mostly dry. Jose Mourinho who was known for his defensive style of play was appointed as the manager next. The first season under him saw the world record signing of Paul Pogba for  €105 million (£89.3 million) plus bonuses of €5 million and splahed the cash for few other players. This squad went on to win the EFL Cup and the FA community shield. Even after a sixth place finish in the league Man Utd qualified for the Champions League through their first ever Europa League title after beating Ajax 2-0 in the final. A European club at Old Trafford after quite a long time. Wayne Rooney scored his 250th goal becoming club`s leading goal scorer. Fans were happy thought that we were back to glory days but the next two seasons proved to be a disappointment. The 2017-18 season was a dry season for united regardless of a second place finish (in a record breaking campaign for City under Pep) after they were knocked out in the round of 16 by Sevilla and lost the FA cup final to Chelsea. Mourinho was given another chance due to few impressive performances in that season.  The start of this 2018-19 season saw the Red Devils play like school boys with Mourinho not getting enough support in the transfer window. He was constantly complaining about the lack of quality centre backs and often criticized his players especially Pogba in the interviews. Mourinho was sacked on 18 December 2018 after he lost the faith of his players and fans and with United in sixth place, 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool and 11 points outside the Champions League places. Clearly all these three managers failed to fit Sir Alex`s shoe and Mourinho didn`t have the Man Utd DNA. Then came Ole Gunnar Solksjaer from Molde who is one of our own, saved the season for united as a manager. His first game in charge saw ManU beat Cardiff 5-1 with striking displays as a unit. But what he did against PSG in the Champions league Round of 16 second leg away was remarkable. After losing first leg 2-0 at home, with injuries to quite a lot of first team players and Paul Pogba being suspended it seemed almost impossible to turn it around. But Ole brought back what was missing in the squad for the past few years: confidence, smile and best of tactics tobeat PSG 3-3 on away goals at the Parc Des Princes through a Marcus Rashford penalty in Fergie Time with a team filled with academy
graduates. Many claim that it is the renaissance of Manchester United, the start of a new era.  On 28 March 2019, following a run of 14 wins in his 19 matches in charge, Solskjær was appointed permanently on a three-year deal. Following this was a dip in form and other injury worries for the squad who failed to secure a champions League spot in the last stages with just few points behind. The team lost to teams like Wolves and Everton and this time expert criticized the players. They feel players need to step up and support the manager. But next season if Ole is supported with huge funds in transfer window he can surely turn things around with rumored signings of high profile center backs like DE Light and Koulibaly and more players who have the MAN Utd DNA . Players like David De Gea and Pogba need to deliver the goods this time. The club donates a lot of money for charity and conducts matches of the legends to raise funds for the same. Ole needs to know that fans are always with the club during the Best and Worst time. For me there is just One Love, One Dream, One United #IAMUNITED #GLORYGLORYMANUTD

Beyond the Beard: Exploring True Masculinity

(Consider this an open letter to men (also women) around the world irrespective of what your age or ideologies are, be it socially liberal or conservative, feminist or not. I write this piece to appeal to a diverse audience with diverse beliefs on what being a man really means. I seek to appeal to the logic and conscience of individuals which are inherent irrespective of how conservative you are, without wanting to antagonize anyone for their opinions. You may disagree with me or wholeheartedly believe in my ideas as well. Either way, I wish for this article to engage with you on a personal level and really get people thinking. So sit back, relax and give it a read! ) In the tapestry of existence, there lies an irony so profound that it casts a shadow upon our collective consciousness. It is the irony of choice. We don't choose to be born a man or a woman, rich or poor We didn't choose to grow up hating each other for the colour of our skin or our gender. Hell, we definitely ...

To Buy Or Not To Buy?

Introduction Oil: The one thing that fuels and greases the global economic machine, the black gold for which countries will go to war, claiming to uncover deadly weaponry (you know who) and yet again a centrepiece in igniting a debate over India`s bilateral relations with Russia.  There has been growing pressure on India from the West to condemn formally and explicitly, (or rather to pick a side) Putin`s ideological war on Ukraine. India however has stuck to its roots of non-alignment, testament to which has been its 11 abstentions at UN motions that are critical of the invasion. Further, much to the Wild Wild West`s dismay, India continues to purchase arms and oil from Russia in large quantities. While casualties rise as the war prolongs and countries opting to choose peace to resolve the conflict seem bleak, the question posed to Indian diplomats remains the same - Should India continue buying Oil from Russia while its onslaught on Ukraine continues? The answer is yes: Wha...

Falling Through The Cracks

Falling Through the Fractured Systems The Struggle for Mental Health Support   TRIGGER WARNING: While I have refrained using any graphic language and moderated the content to be reader friendly there are a couple of suicide helplines and descriptions of mental health issues which might be triggering. Consider if you are in the right frame of mind personally before reading this . Introduction Very often we find ourselves stepping into the shadows of this realm where our cries for help reverberate off the walls of indifference and our emergent needs are met with crushing inefficiency. As we dig deeper into mental health issues, we find ourselves tangled in a labyrinth with red tape and paperwork and stand glaring at a system where the clocks tick louder than the beating of anxious hearts and where there are gaps big enough to flood the rest of our lives with tears.   Yes, the system does not work and it’s time we declare war against it. This article aims to ...
